TAP onboard with Truth It.

From Chuck Fall, TAP president.

Truth It

Truth Action Project wishes Truth It a fruitful journey as it builds a new organization dedicated to pursuing truth and community engagement through Truth Booth activism.
As a TAP partner, Truth It will focus on helping build Truth Booth teams in local communities. https://truthactionproject.org/tap-partners/truth-it/

Setting up and operating a Truth Booth at a busy event is optimally a three-person job, or more. Just as important as having enough people, however, is forming a cohesive team with a shared purpose

Truth It is a non-partisan grassroots initiative dedicated to fostering truth-seeking, critical thinking, courageous dialogue, and active civic participation. Building strong local Truth Booth teams is one way that mission comes to life in communities.

TAP shares this ambition. We encourage local activist groups to build a truth movement that imagines a better society, one not chronically at war, and a republic with integrity. We at TAP are in solidarity with the Truth It team’s goals for Truth Booth activism and building a community of concerned and engaged citizens.

Building an Effective Team

We invite anyone considering taking on the Truth Booth project to review the ideas presented in a TAP Talk by Paul Deslauriers. He is a TAP Partner at the Maui Pono Network / Community Action Network. Paul’s presentation covers ideas from the book Quantum Grass Roots Organizing for Systemic Change.

Paul’s vision inspires TAP’s ambition for local teams. Those building Truth Booth teams should be intentional from the beginning about creating a strong, cohesive team.

We met Paul when he was a guest on a TAP Forum that examined the Lahaina Fires. Paul returned for our latest TAP Talk, where he emphasized building coherence in an activist group.

By being intentional and aware of the team, and having a clear purpose, the group can become highly effective and better able to avoid the pitfalls of internal disharmony, which can deplete group energy and undermine the purpose of forming a group.
For those building Truth Booth teams, this is worth considering from the beginning:
Don’t simply plan the booth.

Build the team.

Paul has graciously offered to meet with a Truth Booth team wanting to make a difference.
