Education
Education
Perhaps the most important social institution in determining the success or failure of the American experiment in ordered liberty is the educational system. Like all other institutions today, education at all levels is under scrutiny from all sides.
Education is necessary for many reasons, most of them outside TAP’s scope. We are interested mainly in the extent to which our educational system—at all levels—encourages or discourages critical thinking and respectful dialogue.
In the Western world, we hear the cry: Education has lost touch with parents, teachers, and communities in favor of a centralizing bureaucracy. The system must be re-engineered.
Does our educational system train people to think critically or to obey?
During the COVID lockdowns, some parents faced loss of employment because of their unwillingness to be given the MRNA injections or to allow their children to be injected.
They also objected to the imposition of masks on their children during school and to health education campaigns that threatened to bypass parental authority in matters such as health and gender identity.
Parents felt that the public schools that were available to them did not reflect their values and began to consider alternatives such as charter schools and home schooling.
And there’s more for U.S. parents to be aware of. According to the balance, the U.S. is losing its competitive advantage, and the U.S. education rankings are falling behind the rest of the world. In fact, U.S. test scores are now below the global average.
